DEATH BY DEMOCRACY

Here are some examples of death by democracy. President Barak Obama as part of his financial stimulus plan is going to bar Christian groups from using any building renovated or built with these finances. There is no doubt that Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The five pillars of Islam are being taught in public schools, but the five pillars of Christianity are banned.

Cartoons of Mohammad in a college were removed. Cartoons of Christ are not.

Students are suspended for wearing T shirts supporting pro-life or Jesus Christ. They are not suspended for wearing T shirts that support drugs or obscenity.

Christian groups are banned from a university. Atheist groups are not.

A university demands that a Christian group accepts homosexuals as leaders or lose funding. It does not demand that homosexual groups accept Christians who are not homosexuals as leaders.

These are just a few examples that I know of. No doubt there are many more and there will be many more to come once the atheists and humanists in government and society get all fired up.

The church has a choice in this sort of situation. It can lie down and meekly accept death by democracy and continue to play out their religious devotion behind closed doors.

Or it can do what the New Testament Church did and said “whether it is right to obey you or God, we are not going to stop proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ the messiah.”

When God calls he equips. Anyone or organisation that is prepared to follow the dictates of the Holy Spirit and not the dictates of man will be equipped by God to do what he tells them to do.

Such a course may involve sacrifice and deprivation, but that never stopped Paul in his mission to take the good news to as many people as possible. As he said, he died daily.

When was the last time you died to follow the truth of scripture and not compromise your walk with God?

Or is it a case of don’t rock the boat and be as nice as you can to as many people as you can. If Jesus turned up today and did the things he did in the New Testament, he would be banned not only from civil society, but from the church as well.

Better to be rejected by civil society and the church than be rejected by the saviour of the world.
