Yes, that is right. I did say truth is not knowable. All you can do is give your opinion as to what you think the truth is but you have no way of knowing whether it is the truth or not.
Anyway, that is what I was told by the leader of a church in response to something I said that was the truth.
I had said that I was certain that what was happening in a certain church was of God because of the results which were a new focus on the Lordship of Christ and the fatherhood of God. I added that was not the sort of thing that Satan does.
I was told that I had no way of knowing for a certainty that God was behind it all, it could very well be Satan.
Of course these words were going through my mind as I was being corrected. “The Holy Spirit when he comes will lead you into ALL truth” and “I am the way, the truth and the life” and “you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
What I want to know is why did God allow these words to be included in his word if in fact that is not the case? If I cannot know the truth, all I can do is express an opinion about it then these words are totally irrelevant and to be quite frank about it…a lie.
If a leader of the church believes that you can’t know the truth, what hope is there for those under him? Not much would be my guess. Probably why this church is going backwards fast.
You will be glad to know that I don’t subscribe to that view. I have total confidence in God and his word so my belief is that you CAN know the truth. All you need to do is have an open mind that will allow you to hear from God himself who will allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into …some truth…no into all truth.
I am so glad that I don’t have to rely on man to know God. If I did, I in all probability wouldn’t know God because if truth is not knowable, then God is not knowable.
