SUPER SUPERNATURAL Pt 3

Now to the actual super supernatural. In 1976, my church decided to organise an international residential five day conference featuring the ministers in our stream of the church. I was involved in the organisation and management of the conference along with my wife and three others. All together 1,770 attended, so it was quite an undertaking.

One of the workshops was “Freedom from Rejection” and the minister who introduced the concept was to speak and I was appointed to assist him at the end with praying for people.

After he had spoken, he invited people who wanted freedom from rejection to come forward for prayer. About 20 people came forward, and he started at one end of the row and I started at the other end.

As I stood before the first person, the first question I asked was “Lord, what do I pray?” The words of a hymn came into my mind.” he breaks the power of cancelled sin and sets the prisoner free.”

I raised a hand and placed it on the forehead of the person standing in front of me and said “he breaks the power of cancelled sin and sets the prisoner free.” The person immediately fell backwards onto the floor.

I moved onto the second person and did the same. They immediately fell backwards onto the floor.

I moved onto the next person and did the same. Well, not quite. I put my hand on their forehead, started saying the words and before I could finish they were on the floor.

The same thing happened to the next person.

The next person was different. I just raised my hand without touching them and started the words but never finished because they were on the floor before I could.

The next person I didn’t even raise my hand. I just started to say the words and they were gone. The same happened with the next and until the final one.

The power of God was present and all I had to do was to be obedient and pray as he instructed me to. The end result was super supernatural.

We could have arranged for these people to have regular therapy sessions with a view to eventually leading them out of their problems in a week, a month, a year, but God was present to do that in a moment through the power of the Spirit and the obedience of those ministering.

If Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, the super supernatural should be part of the everyday life of the church. The fact that it isn’t is not a failing on God’s part. It is a failing on our part to access it and trust God to stand by his word.
